I used to have full focus to do a bit of extra damage on people as archer but there is really no point, I died in 2 hits and did maybe 10% more damage.

Thankfully the upcoming 2.0 changes might help somewhat alleviate the problem due to having to choose only one type of book and pot. One of the primary reasons everyone thought archer was strong when the game first launched was because no one had any gear. It will make me slightly weaker overall since sniping into a raid and seeing 5 people fall over is funny, but I imagine it is infuriating for the opposition. If they need to nerf archer damage on the other end of the spectrum (vs ungeared) in order to slightly buff it vs geared opponents, I’m all for it. I want to be competitive against geared opponents. Thankfully most people are undergeared so I hit them for absurd amounts of damage from long range. If you think I’m arguing that archer needs to be buffed just so I can 2 shot more people then I don’t know what to tell you. I could sell my bow and gear out ANY character I want. I could easily buy a mythic melee weapon and a full set of divine t5 armor. Honestly guys, I could gear out any character I want. It’s silly to endless a guy with only 3 toughness gems for 1.5k and then endless another guy full socketed holding a shield for 50.Īdditionally, everyone here seems to be way too focused on MY gear and the fact that I am a p2w with a mythic ayanad bow. However I do think archer damage needs to increase on the geared end of the spectrum even if that comes at the expense of lowering the damage versus undergeared targets. Nerfing these stats would simply mean classes like darkrunner become even stronger. I don’t necessarily think toughness or physical defense should be nerfed since a decent melee with even a mid-tier weapon can burst pretty hard through the defensive stats. It’s not like there is anything else worth socketing in your legs. Archers are supposed to be able to deal good damage to “squishies,” (even if it’s not burst, but rather sustained damage), but the problem is the optimal itemization for any squishy involves gemming defense/toughness and equipping a shield, and they give up very little damage for it. There is no tradeoff for socketing toughness and gemming defenses.

I do feel the defense tree is rather strong, but at least there is a tradeoff for going deep into the defense tree. There are also people that seem to think I’m complaining about the defense tree I’m not. Some people say to attack from behind, but if you’re able to position yourself behind the enemy raid as an archer and get away with it I think that says more about the enemy than it does about archers. Archers also have to deal with block/parry/evade because in most important PvP situations you aren’t going to be attacking someone from behind. This disproportionately affects archers due to their innately low ranged attack (compared to melee), and spammable skills such as endless arrows/manastars due to the way flat damage reduction is applied after other reductions. You can play any class, be it darkrunner, daggerspell, cleric, etcetera, and as long as you can equip a shield and socket toughness and defense you are essentially a tank. The point of the post was to show how little damage endless arrows does to a well geared target (not a tank), and how much it does to an undergeared target. People seem to be getting the wrong idea from the post that I made on the forums.
